What Makes This Course Different? Well, I've been there!

I was scared to start regularly incorporating morphology into my sessions. I was experiencing strong reading outcomes with my students, but there were parts that never felt quite right, including:

  • dodging specific words because they didn't fit the syllable types or I couldn't explain them
  • not being able to answer questions about less typical spellings
  • teaching CVCs for months to the same kid
  • seeing limited progress with spelling skills for anything "irregular"

With encouragement and support from colleagues, I started to shift my practice bit by bit. I took baby step risks integrating a bigger focus on morphology - like making matrices with students and using word sums each session. Eventually, it not only felt natural, but necessary! The results spoke for themselves. Now, I truly can't imagine going back.
